OH Ca-na-da our home and na-tive land
Damn you're all lucky you can't hear this cuz I can't sing worth shit LOL.So who's been to the island? I was born here, in Victoria actually, our provincial capital. I've lived here much of my life in various locations. Currently I'm up in Qualicum Beach and will likely be here for many more years to come. I've lived off island a few times too, Alberta, Vancouver and even Las Vegas LOL. I used to be a bit of a nomad and lived out of suitcases, well duffle bags really, for a couple of years. Fun times, fun times! I love vacationing and seeing other places but my heart really is right here on my rock. This place is incredibly beautiful and you can do pretty much anything here from every sport and outdoor activity imaginable to cultural activities, plays, concerts, museums, galleries. We have it all right here and best of all we have some of the best riding roads and weather going, we can ride here pretty much year round
So yeah, that's about it for now eh.

I've been to the island - we almost moved to Campbell River in the early 80's but it fell through because my dad had a secret heart attack. He only told me recently about it - he didn't want me to worry as a kid, and he's right - I would have blown off a social life if I'd known.
I remember how beautiful it was, people had horses all over the place. Parks everywhere. Shopping was weak at the time, but I was still happy just to go and buy candy and stickers lol
We go to Victoria every summer for a day trip, eat outside and go to the different museums. I still have to see that miniature museum, that's the one we haven't hit yet.
The ferries are royally fucked this weekend - they had a fire in one of the engines or something and now the wait is HOURS, they'll be sailing in the wee hours tonight just to catch up!

Campbell River is nice, I'm actually up there a lot as DH often works on some of the islands just off of there so I'm picking him up and dropping him off at the water taxi or sea plane terminals. There are some very pretty areas there but definitely not a shoppers paradise LOL. Nanaimo and Victoria are where people like to shop.
I lived in Victoria up to age 18 and then a couple of times after that. When I was growing up the Royal Museum was free so we used to go there a lot. It's still fun to go down and play tourist once in awhile. I love the whole waterfront and inner harbour area.
The ferries are always fucking something up aren't they, especially if it's a long weekend. I heard they are cancelling a whole bunch of sailings so a lot of people are going to be screwed. When I got it the other day they were 30 min. late and offered free tea and coffee as compensation, cheap fuckers!!!!!
So are you right in Vancouver? Dh was working there for a few months helping to create that big mess on Granville Street. He lived in the motorhome under the Lions Gate Bridge at the Capilano RV Park and it was so much fun. I was always over there visiting him and we would go for long walks at Ambleside or Stanley Park or go ride the seabus and go to Imax 3D after smoking a bomber, too much fun LOL. It was nice being so close to everything and I kinda miss it. There's always something to do there.
I love where I live but we have to make our own entertainment as the town shuts down by 9pm and there are only 2 taxis covering the entire area so if we want to go for drinks at one of the pubs one of us always has to stay sober to drive and that's no fun LOL. We have a lot of bonfires with the neighbours but that's always a lot of fun too.

Nope not right in Vancouver, I just posted that so our American friends would sort of understand where I was - I'm in North Delta. Lived here since I was 4. Burnaby before that. And I love Stanley Park. My favourite place to go when I'm downtown. We hit the Aquarium every now and then, it's gotten so expensive! Walking downtown is fun, just people watching, as long as they don't ask me for spare change lol
And as for the ferries, at least they haven't killed anybody lately! I'd still like to know what was really going on on the bridge that night. Sex? Smoking pot? Both? We'll never know. They closed the file. Doesn't seem fair that they got out of that without having to explain.

My horse (ex-horse, boohoo) currently lives where you do Lisa. I dropped you a pm, wondering if by any freak chance you know the family. Stranger things have happened!
So I'm not too far off from you Tara, I grew up in Richmond currently living in Langley for the last 9 years :)
I gotta say I love it here, will never move back to China Town - er I mean Richmond.
